Visit to Oxford of Linacre Honorary Fellow

Mr Satsuki Eda(7th from right), and Mrs Eda(7th from left) with The Principal, Linacre Fellows, and guests.

On Saturday 17th October, the Principal and other Linacre members had the honour of hosting Mr Satsuki Eda(1969), Old Member and Honorary Fellow of the College. Mr Eda, President of the Japan House of Councillors, was accompanied by his wife, Mrs Kyoko Eda, four colleagues from Japan, and a representative of the Japanese Embassy in London. Having visited Russia, Finland and Latvia, and briefly London, all on business, our guests then paid a nostalgic visit to Oxford. After giving a seminar at the Nissan Institute, Mr Eda, and his wife and colleagues, enjoyed an authentic English Afternoon Tea with the Principal and Fellows of the College, and with Linacre students from Japan and Russia. They also had a tour of Linacre, a base previously unfamiliar to Mr Eda, who was of course a student at the old site of the College in St Aldate's, where it was situated from 1962 to 1977. We thank our Japanese friends for their gracious visit, and for their warm ongoing interest in Linacre and Oxford.
